The iPhone 6 that appeared last month as a 'prototype' was recently listed again on eBay as 'unfinished.' The device "Brand New Rare Unfinished Silver 64GB Apple iPhone 6" has now been sold on eBay at $11,100 (roughly Rs. 6,82,927).In October, bidding for the rare 'prototype' iPhone 6 neared a whopping $100,000 (roughly Rs. 61.3 lakhs) on eBay, after which the device suddenly disappeared as Apple got involved and stopped the sale somehow.
The seller kimberlyk1018 on eBay (via Cult of Mac) explains that he had received the unit from Verizon during the upgrade process, and that Apple had offered him opportunity to exchange the 'unfinished' or 'prototype' iPhone 6 for a new iPhone 6 or even a iPhone 6 Plus.
iphone_6_unfinished_ebay_listing.jpgThe seller claims that he was informed by Apple that the "phone is not a prototype, but rather a device that went through the manufacturing process and was never completed." According to the eBay listing, there were 12 bidders for the fresh sale. The unfinished silver 64GB iPhone 6 does not run iOS 8 and has a red charging port while the FCC mark on the rear is missing, informs the listing.
The listing notes, "The phone was purchased as a Silver 64gb iPhone 6 from Verizon during the upgrade process. Apple has offered me the opportunity to exchange this iPhone 6 for any iPhone 6 I want in stores including the iPhone 6 Plus."
"Once again I am disclosing that Apple has said this device is not a prototype but I leave you to make your own assumptions. It is running applications that do not come on the released device. This phone is sold as is and I will not be accepting any returns unless the device is broken upon arrival. I will only ship this device within the United States to PayPal verified address which are eligible for seller protection," the seller notes.
