OnePlus
on Friday started rolling out the CM 11S 44S OTA update for its One
smartphone, an update that will primarily fix the long-lamented unresponsive touchscreen issue. The company on its forum announced that the CM 11S 44S OTA update "will be released slowly and therefore some regions might receive it before others".
Along with the updated touchscreen firmware, OnePlus One CM 11S 44S OTA update includes some new fixes such as a resolved SSLv3 POODLE security issue, says the company. Additionally the CM 11S 44S OTA update for OnePlus One fixes issues like random reboots and instability; Wi-Fi and modem crashes, "black bar" issue, persist partition corruption, filesystem bugs, memory-based screen artifacts, and issues with AT&T's VoLTE.
The CM 11S 44S OTA update for the OnePlus One appears to be the same update that was reported to be in testing earlier this month, which was also primarily said to 'finally' fix the touchscreen issue.
Previously, the company had rolled out the CM 11S 38R update in October and CM 11S 33R update in August, addressing the same unresponsiveness of touchscreen apart from other issues and the addition of new features. On both occasions, users reported that the updates had partially fixed the issues.
Notably, the CM 11S 38R update had brought host of other features along with various fixes. The OnePlus One camera gained the ability to take photos in RAW format and its camera app added a pause button during video recording.
The other camera-related issues such as camera exposure compensation stuck in 'auto' and camera not starting once the LED torch is already on, were also fixed with the CM 11S 38R update. It had also added a new lock screen, ANT+ support for connecting health accessories, and direct bug reporting ability. For music playback, the OnePlus One smartphone had got playback support for 24-bit, 96/192khz flac/ alac/ wav files without resampling.
