Truecaller has come up with its own dialler app, called the Truedialer, for Android and Windows Phone. The Truedialer app for Android devices is now available for download from Google Play and the company's official site, while the Windows Phone app is now available from the Windows Phone Store. Both the Android and Windows Phone apps are free to download.
Making the announcement on its blog post, Truecaller said, "Since the first sighting of the Android smartphone back in 2008, many of the phone's native apps have gone through improvements throughout the years; except the dial pad. It is for this reason the Truecaller Team has developed, and is introducing, Truedialer, one of the most useful, and easy to use dialler apps for Android and Windows Phone."
The Truedialer app provides information associated with the number being dialled by searching the contact list and Truecaller's database, and can also automatically fill in missing contact information in the call log with information from Truecaller's database.
The company suggests that the new dialler app can protect users from spammers. If the number being dialled has been reported by Truecaller's community as an unwanted number, the app warns the user before the call is placed. The Truedialer app also comes with T9 search support for predictive text input.
Truecaller also tries to differentiate its two apps - Truedialer and Truecaller - for the uninitiated user, noting, "For starters, they are two different apps! Truecaller helps people navigate the complexity of knowing who is calling them by blocking nuisance calls from numbers they don't know, and identifying incoming calls. Our new service Truedialer, on the other hand, is a completely separate area of the phone (the keypad dialler), and will help users find who they are looking for when they are ready to make a call."
Commenting on the announcement, Nami Zarringhalam, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer at Truecaller said, "Until now, phone dial pads have not truly improved since the feature phone days. With the same infrastructure that powers Truecaller, our ambition with Truedialer is to replace the phone's phonebook app, and be invaluable to users, just as Truecaller has changed the way people receive calls and find contact information."
